My
name is Maria Amelia Woods. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and I speak English, Portuguese and Spanish. I have been
teaching kindergarten and early childhood for over twelve years.
I
have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech
Pathology from Instituto Brasileiro de Medicina de Reabilitacao in Rio de
Janeiro. I received a master’s
degree in International Education from Framingham, Massachussets, U.S.A. I have a
post-graduation degree in
Psychopedagogy from Pontificia Universidade do Rio de Janeiro. I also have a teaching certification as an Early Childhood
Generalist from the NBPTS
(National Board for Professional Teaching Standards) U.S.A.
I
enjoy writing fairy tales. I have published a fairy tale in Portuguese called "A Menina dos Cabelos".
Besides
reading and writing I enjoy photography, rowing in my concept2, working out and singing. I have two cats and love doing safaris.
I also work as a Speech Pathologist after school hours.
